Homeopathy is a natural medicine first conceived more than two centuries ago in Germany by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. It is a healing philosophy which views the person as a connected being, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually not as a diagnosis or collection of symptoms. Each patient is unique and manifests illness in a unique way.
Homeopathic remedies are made from anything we find in nature- plants, animals, minerals, (animal) milks and many other substances. Hahnemann found out that substances in large amounts caused symptoms in a healthy person, but very small or minute doses of a substance actually healed a sick person.
Remedies act as a catalyst by stimulating the body’s own healing mechanism. There are thousands of proving (testing of the substances) of the medicines on healthy humans to gain understanding about what symptoms it could heal in the sick. There are many clinical studies showing it works.
The focus of the homeopath is to use the most rapid, gentle and permanent method, meaning the least suffering for the patient. Healing occurs differently in every person and many factors have to be taking into consideration.
